strip poker Champion
Poker Champion Fights Off Attacks At Las Vegas Strip Poker-CasinoDecember 30, 2004 Greg Raymer, the 2004 World Series of Poker champion, apparently knows how to wield more than a stack of chips when everything is riding on it. The soft-spoken patent attorney from Stonington, Conn., fought off a pair of attackers Dec. 20 at the Bellagio hotel-casino after he had finished playing a cash game of poker, according to a Las Vegas police report. Raymer was returning to his room about 2 a.m. when two men approached, the report said. As he opened the door to the room, they tried to push him in. But the heavyset Raymer resisted and began struggling with the men, the report said. As he was fighting, one of the men pulled out a gun and said: "We just want the money." But Raymer didn't give up, and yelled for security, causing the men to flee. A security officer said one of the suspects was a poker player and also recognized him from a previous incident. Police made an arrest in the case but the report didn't identify the person. Raymer, known as the "Fossilman" in poker circles, won the WSOP Texas Hold'Em title and $5 million in cash. He beat out a field of 2,576 in May to win the prestigious event. On a poker message board, Raymer recently wrote: "I don't write this to brag, I just want any robbery-minded people out there who hear about this to know that I'm a tough mark, and they won't get that much off me even if they succeed."

strip poker Controversy
Strip Poker Controversy Headed To Federal CourtJanuary 17, 2004 A Framingham man who has accused Town Manager George King of playing strip poker with one of his secretaries was put on pretrial probation for violating a restraining order taken out by his wife. Now, Seth Levenson said he is going to sue King and the town for impeding his First Amendment and civil rights by preventing him from speaking at the Aug. 24 selectmen's meeting. "I think the public needs to know the circumstances surrounding my arrest -- it was criminal," said Levenson, who is estranged from Allison Potter, who used to be a secretary for King. "This is vindication, but it's not justice." Judge Paul Healy ordered Levenson to serve six months pretrial probation. If Levenson commits no crimes during that six months, the case will be dismissed. Levenson filed a State Ethics Commission complaint against King after he says he saw King and Karen Potter, one of King's assistants, at a house party playing strip poker. Levenson allegedly violated a restraining order against him when he went to the Memorial Building Aug. 21, one day after his estranged wife, Allison Potter, got the order from Framingham District Court. Allison Potter and Karen Potter are sisters. Levenson said his wife got the restraining order to try to prevent him from speaking at the meeting and informing the board of King's alleged indiscretions. Levenson said it was all a plan by King to keep him quiet and claims Chief Steve Carl arrested him even though a patrolman would normally handle such a situation. "My First Amendment rights were seriously limited," said Levenson. "I think these people should be held accountable, either in civil or criminal courts." Levenson's attorney, Hank Brennan of Boston, said his client has a strong case. "There has been damage to his reputation," said Brennan. "It's an extremely disturbing abuse of power. The public should know the facts about their officials." Both King and Carl deny any wrongdoing. "Certainly, if Levenson wants to sue the town, that's his option," said King. "We'll vigorously defend our position. We did nothing wrong and he knows it. I think, much like his other conspiracy theories, it doesn't make sense." Carl said he makes several arrests and was just doing his job when he took Levenson into custody. "I arrested him because I was there after I asked him to leave and he didn't leave," said Carl. "I would arrest anyone who didn't leave when they have a restraining order. My action that night wasn't any different than it would have been for anyone else. I'm a police officer, and I have still have an obligation to arrest someone when they violate a restraining order." Both King and Carl said if Levenson really believed he did nothing wrong, why didn't he push for a trial. "If he's so sure, why did he accept probation instead of putting it to the test in trial?" King said. Carl said, "If I was innocent, I would go to trial to prove my innocence, I wouldn't accept probation."

Is Mobile Gaming Ridiculous?
When I was asked to speak at the third annual Mobile and Online Games forum earlier this month, I was surprised—I'm not exactly a mobile-gaming expert or even a fan. I realized that my presence must have been intended as a bit of counter-programming—perhaps the naysayer voice. Ah, now there was a role I could warm up to. In all honesty, I'm not a big believer in mobile gaming. I just don't get it. I am positively stunned at the size and popularity of this market (huge in Europe, exploding here). There are hundreds of games, dozens of Web sites, and many companies making lots of money producing all manner of games (from the simple golf game to the more complicated run-and-shoot to adult strip poker—in fact, there seems to be a preponderance of the latter). But what's the attraction of mobile gaming? A typical mobile phone's screen is an inch or so wide and a couple of inches long. What's worse, you play on a keypad roughly the size of a playing card. Who can play an action game without getting a terrible phalanx-based cramp? I guess I understand grown men warming up to these games—those who are too embarrassed to carry around a Game Boy. They're happy to have a mobile phone for business calls and surreptitious gaming. "Look," they say, "I use the phone for work. Pay no attention to the strip poker game on the screen…" But these guys have to be a small slice of the market, right? And why would the target market—kids and teens—want to play games on a cell phone when they can play on the bigger, brighter screens and more useful controls found on a the Sony PSP, Nintendo DS and Nintendo Game Boy Advance SP? I also thought the dual barriers of price and the difficulty of getting games onto the phones would surely present an insurmountable hurdle for mobile phone gaming success. And, until recently, high speeds on mobile phones were a pipe dream. Of course now we're watching video on our cell phones. So good, now we can download these 5MB to 15MB, $5 to $12 (today's typical sizes and prices) games with ease, but are they playable or compelling? I'm sorry, but the new wave of mobile-gaming enthusiasm, heck, even the prospect of speaking at this forum [must remember to insert name of conference here] failed to convince me that I was standing at the brink of something big.

Strip Poker Facts
Funny Strip Poker FactsI used to be in a band that played on the Jersey Shore in the late '70s. We had regular strip poker games at the band house, often with more girls than guys. This was simply because very few guys got invited. One of our traditions was that if you got a girl out of her panties, you had to wear them on your head.

The Venetian Resort and Casino
The Venetian is built on the property where the Sands used to be on the famous Las Vegas Strip. The new mega-resort is truly a work of art modeled after the city of Venice in the 16th century. It even has a canal and gondolas running through the 500,000 sq. ft that is home to the Grand Canal Shoppes. More photos of this resort can be seen in the Venetian Photo Gallery. The atmosphere and attitude of the personnel in the casino is as unique and refreshing as the resort itself. All players are welcome at the Venetian. Unlike some of the bigger places in town that will not rate a quarter slot or five-dollar table player, the Venetian rates everyone. Every 10 points earned on your players card is worth $1 cashback. While I was there, if you earned 200 points they rewarded you with an additional 50. I spoke to several of the pit bosses to verify that a five-dollar table player would be rated and was assured that they would be. I even was told that craps players would receive credit for all their bets including the odds bet. While some of the other casinos will credit you for your spread bets, this is the first time I have heard of being credited for the odds bet. I found the dealers to be very friendly and pleasant. They were eager to answers any questions about the games or the casino. Most of the Blackjack tables were six deck shoe games with good rules including S17, DOA, DAS, LS RA. There are also a few double deck games at the higher limit tables. Video Poker players will enjoy full pay Jacks or Better or 8/5 Bonus Poker in quarter and dollar denominations. The Venetian has the best video poker on the Las Vegas Strip. "Steve Meyer, Executive Director of Advertising, at The Venetian Resort-Hotel-Casino explained the Video Poker Selection to the subscribers of "billhere's" Viva Las Vegas Newsletter. Read what he said in the July 21st edition. The Venetian is a luxury resort with great casino games and a staff that truly cares about the comfort of its guests. If I had to describe the Venetian in one word I think the word "Class" says it best. Stop by and spend some time I'm sure you will enjoy the experience.
